PETALING JAYA: Penduduk Malaysia mencecah 34 juta pada suku pertama 2024, meningkat 2.3 peratus berbanding tempoh sama tahun sebelumnya, lapor Jabatan Perangkaan.
Ketua Perangkawan, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Uzir Mahidin berkata, jumlah penduduk pada tiga bulan pertama tahun ini merangkumi 30.6 juta warganegara dan 3.4 juta bukan warganegara.
“Secara keseluruhan, nisbah jantina penduduk adalah 111 lelaki bagi setiap 100 perempuan, manakala nisbah jantina bagi penduduk warganegara adalah 103 lelaki bagi setiap 100 perempuan,” katanya dalam kenyataan. “Penduduk yang berumur sifar ke 14 tahun dan umur bekerja 15 hingga 64 tahun masing-masing meningkat daripada 7.5 juta dan 23.2 juta kepada 7.7 juta dan 23.8 juta pada suku pertama tahun ini.Sementara itu, katanya, jumlah kelahiran hidup merekodkan penurunan sebanyak 9.4 peratus iaitu bersamaan 106,386 kelahiran berbanding 117,413 kelahiran pada suku sama tahun sebelumnya.
