8 acres, will unfold over a period of approximately 15 years and encompass a diverse mix of developments, including at least four hospitals, an array of health and wellness facilities, technology parks, commercial centers, serviced apartments, educational institutions, and residential areas.\Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, speaking at a press conference following the official signing ceremony for a master sale and purchase and development agreement between Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and Fajarbaru Builder Group (FBG), emphasized the project's significance. He described it as one of the largest private investments Penang has received, with an initial phase one investment of RM2 billion, augmented by billions more in subsequent phases. This investment, according to Chow, ventures beyond the traditional manufacturing sector, injecting substantial capital into a burgeoning medical hub.\ PDC has been diligently cultivating the concept of a medical city for over five years, engaging in extensive discussions with various companies. Chow stated that the project is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for Batu Kawan, boasting over 1,000 hospital beds and evolving into a comprehensive medical destination for Penang, the northern region, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). Penang currently enjoys a commanding 45 percent market share in the medical tourism industry nationwide, and this development is expected to further cement its position as a leading hub. The state's existing medical tourism sector has demonstrated consistent growth, attracting individuals seeking high-quality medical services at competitive prices. Chow also highlighted that the project is projected to create numerous job opportunities during construction and upon completion, it could generate an even greater number of high-value positions within the medical and service sectors
