Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has apologized for a poster commemorating the resumption of flights between Islamabad and Paris, which sparked outrage for its perceived insensitivity to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The ad, depicting a plane flying towards the Eiffel Tower, was criticized for its proximity of the plane to the iconic landmark, drawing comparisons to the attacks on the World Trade Center. The controversy led to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calling for an inquiry into the ad's conception. PIA's spokesman stated that the ad was intended to celebrate the airline's return to European routes and had no malicious intent.
