Chinese planemaker Comac seeks to secure its first international customers for the C919 jet amidst delivery delays affecting Boeing and Airbus.
Commercial Aircraft Corp of China Ltd. ( Comac ) is actively courting airlines in Southeast Asia and Central Asia, aiming to secure its first international clients for the C919 single-aisle jet. Comac executives have engaged in talks with high-level officials from Garuda Indonesia, SCAT Airlines in Kazakhstan, and Angkor Air in Cambodia. These efforts come amid growing challenges for Boeing and Airbus , facing significant delivery delays and high demand, leaving a window of opportunity for Comac .
Comac has also lobbied the Indonesian government for a major deal. While Comac planned to be a prominent presence at the Bali International Air Show in September, it ultimately did not attend. Representatives from Comac, Garuda Indonesia, SCAT Airlines, and Angkor Air declined to comment
