The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Malaysia will summon Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook to testify regarding several issues within his ministry, including the delayed installation of the Aerotrain at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the RM500 million loss incurred by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in transactions involving the sale and purchase of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares.

Committee chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin stated that the PAC's agenda will encompass issues such as the delayed Aerotrain installation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the RM500 million loss incurred by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in transactions involving the sale and purchase of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares. The PAC is preparing a list of witnesses for hearings scheduled to commence in early February during the Dewan Rakyat session. Mas Ermieyati emphasized that the PAC has established terms of reference for its members, and these have been approved for hearings that will address various matters, including the RM500 million EPF loss and other pertinent issues. She acknowledged that these investigations might be prolonged due to the sheer volume of public concerns necessitating the calling of numerous witnesses.Anthony Loke's potential summons stems from the precedent set by the Prime Minister's previous appearance before the PAC. Mas Ermieyati stressed that any individual deemed essential for the proceedings must be prepared to attend. She further disclosed that the EPF issue is among five new topics scheduled for PAC hearings. The first hearing will focus on land development in Kuala Lumpur under the purview of the Federal Territory Department, the Land and Mines Department, and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). This will be followed by a hearing on the proposed leasing of electric trains (EMU) under the Ministry of Transport, the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB). The third hearing will delve into the management of public airports under the Ministry of Finance, MAHB, Khazanah Nasional, and the EPF.Other hearings will encompass the increase in health insurance premiums, private hospital fees, and their impact on public health, involving the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). The PAC aims to present 25 reports and conduct over 150 meetings addressing issues of public interest and reports from the Auditor-General, compared to 148 meetings and 22 reports in the previous year. Additionally, the PAC has scheduled a hearing on Khazanah's unprofitable investments to obtain explanations and information from the national sovereign wealth fund
