Released by the Yankees last month, three-time All-Star third baseman and former AL MVP Josh Donaldson contributed to a lopsided win in his Milwaukee Brewers debut on Monday night.
Donaldson contributed an RBI single Monday night in his Brewers’ debut, a 12-0 blanking of the Marlins at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Those numbers convinced the Brewers that Donaldson could be an impact bat for them in September and October. Donaldson, 37, was well into a second long stint on the injured list when he was released by the Yankees on Aug. 29. His numbers for Nashville weren’t good – 3-for-17 with a homer, four walks and two strikeouts – but theThe Brewers’ early plans for Donaldson were shared time at third base with rookie Andruw Monasterio, who also plays second base. Both are right-handed hitters. Donaldson will start against left-handers and possibly some righties.
