Yankees avoid no-hitter, walk off for wild 13-inning win over Brewers

The Yankees came dangerously close to being on the wrong side of history.

After nearly becoming the first team in MLB history to get no-hit for 11 innings, the Yankees’ offense finally came alive and beat the Brewers, 4-3, in 13 innings.

Giancarlo Stanton tied it again with a leadoff two-run homer that drove in extra runner Gleyber Torres. Milwaukee right-hander Corbin Burnes was even better, as he tossed eight no-hit innings before being removed after 109 pitches, one shy of his season-high. Against Joel Payamps in the 11th, extra runner Anthony Volpe — who nearly won the game for the Yankees in the 10th with a shot to right — moved to third on an Everson Pereira groundout before Cabrera ripped a double to right.
