SINGAPORE: A man who attempted to rape a Thai singer in 2018 and committed other offences was sentenced to nine years, six months and four weeks’ jail on Friday (Dec 6).

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of victims in flood-affected states in the country decreased to 65,899 Wednesday morning compared to 67,453 last night.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal, the Pasir Mas district maintained the highest number, with 22,441 people, followed by Tumpat , Kota Baru , Pasir Puteh , Bachok and Tanah Merah . "We lost contact with the Social Welfare Department's officers in the affected areas, especially in Rantau Panjang, for the past three days, resulting in the data on the number of flood victims in the Rantau Panjang relief centres not being updated until Wednesday ," he said when contacted by Bernama.

"Kota Setar still has the highest number of victims, with 4,143 people from 1,254 families, followed by Kubang Pasu ; Pokok Sena and Padang Terap ,"he said in a statement.
