The no-panic zone: Despite the frustration of Sunday's loss in Washington, there's a sense of progress around the Jaguars, based on the strong response emerging from halftime.

completed 8 of 12 passes for 126 yards and Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz was 3 of 8 for 8 yards.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk, who had six receptions for 117 yards — four for 83 yards in the second half — said the Jaguars showed a collective positive response to adversity until Washington quarterback Carson Wentz threw two fourth-quarter TD passes and the offense had to punt and quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw an interception on its last two possessions.

On the flip side, the Jaguars failed to score 10 times in the third quarter last season and in two other games had only a field goal. Another key was the demeanor of the coaching staff. Pederson, defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell and other coaches on the field remained calm, there was no negative body language and no chirping at officials or players

“When you’ve got a coach who’s won before and when you’ve got a group of guys who want to win, want to get where he’s been and everybody buys in, that just makes us even closer and makes us even more hungry,” he said. The Jaguars made two moves on Monday, signing two veterans, nose tackle Corey Peters and center James Murry to the practice squad. The team released offensive tackle Nick Ford and linebacker Grant Morgan.
