: Nine tabika perpaduan or government kindergartens in Pasir Gudang near here have been ordered to close temporarily in light of the air pollution that has prevailed since Thursday.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik said the National Unity and Integration Department had been intensively monitoring the breathing difficulty and vomiting cases at the affected schools in Pasir Gudang. “For the safety of students particularly in the polluted area, I have ordered the department to temporarily close the kindergartens.

“This is in line with the Education Department’s directive to suspend classes for all schools and higher learning institutions and government and private kindergartens that are located within the radius of the polluted area from June 23 until June 27 ,“ he said in a statement here today. The Tanjung Piai member of parliament added that the department would continue to strictly monitor the situation.
