An NGO in Selangor, Malaysia, is facing investigation for selling fake titles and awards to its members and potential members. The NGO, established in 2022, was also found to be distributing uniforms similar to those worn by security forces, raising concerns about public confusion and impersonation. Police have seized various items including ceremonial uniforms, badges, medals, and accessories. Seven individuals, including the NGO's founder, are expected to be charged.
SHAH ALAM: An NGO being investigated over its members wearing uniforms similar to that of security forces was also found to be selling fake titles and awards, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
“The welfare-based NGO was established in 2022. It has no ties to the underworld, but we believe it sold fake awards and medals to members and those who wanted to become members. Various items have been seized including 18 ceremonial uniforms along with badges, medals and other accessories, he added. It was reported earlier this month that an NGO landed in hot water over a video of its members wearing uniforms that closely resembled that of a uniform body during an event.
