An increase in maternity, paternity and parents’ benefits are on the cards in Budget 2025, with the Minister for Social Protection also keen to implement a pay-related model in the future
New parents are in line for a major cash boost as part of the government's budget cost of living package.
The government will be finalising their measures over the next two weeks as they have said they aim to deliver "universal measures" to benefit everyone.Read more:Save €1000 by Christmas with simple money challenge “Minister Humphreys is very strongly of the view that maternity benefit needs to be very significantly increased,” a government source has said.
Paternity leave benefit is also paid at the same weekly rate, but for only two weeks within the first six months of the child’s life.
