Pensioners are in for a windfall come this year's Budget as the weekly state pension is poised to jump by at least €20, marking the heftiest hike ever seen.
According to the Irish Independent, Fine Gael is mulling over the most substantial boost to the state pension yet, a hike of at least €20 a week, which would rack up a bill of over €500 million.READ MORE: Parents could get new one-off €560 Child Benefit payment in Budget 2025 Meanwhile, thousands more pensioners could soon be pocketing fuel allowance payments if proposals from Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys get the green light. She's keen to drop the age threshold to 66. At present, only those 70 or older get the benefit.
