The board, tasked with offering recommendations to the mayor for a two-year period, is composed of both political appointees and individuals with technical backgrounds.
THE 11 new members appointed to the Kuala Lumpur advisory board must come up with viable solutions to issues that have long plagued the city and have a bigger voice, say community leaders.
“They must also look into reviewing all alienation of government land by Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office through the PM’s Office and review development orders granted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall that are in conflict with environmental protection.” “These new members seem to be new faces, so it is important that they interact with the communities to know the issues on the ground.ALSO READ:On July 7, the new advisory board members were presented with their letters of appointment by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh.
Appointed to the board are Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Shafei Abdullah, Datuk Seri Izudin Ishak, Datuk Tong Nguen Khoong, Datuk Ismail Ngah, Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan, Datin Rashidah Mohd Sies, Dr Abdul Basir V. Kunhimohamed, Lai Chen Heng, Jayakumar R. Muniandy, Hayatul Kamil Termudi and Leong Ooi Kuan. For example, Tong is president of Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association while Rashidah is currently Finance Ministry deputy secretary-general .

Apartment Unit Destroyed in New Year's Eve Fire in Kuala LumpurA residential unit in a condominium on Jalan San Peng in Kuala Lumpur was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out on the night of the Chinese New Year celebration.
