Negeri Sembilan state government employees are allowed to leave work at 2pm on Fridays during the month of Ramadan . This year, almost 2,500 women working under the state administration will benefit from this flexible working hour arrangement. Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun clarified that this policy only applies to state government employees and not those working under the federal government. He explained that women will work from 7.
30am to 2pm every Friday, without breaks, and can return home directly after work. Meanwhile, men will resume work after Friday prayers as usual. The Chief Minister emphasized that working during Ramadan is a reward, although he acknowledged the month's spiritual significance. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has also announced adjusted school hours for the duration of Ramadan. Afternoon sessions will end at 5.30pm in Peninsula Malaysia and 5pm in East Malaysia, while morning sessions will remain unchanged. The MoE aims to ensure smooth school operations and allow Muslim students and teachers to observe Ramadan comfortably.The ministry has also addressed concerns regarding misinformation spread on social media regarding school hours during Ramadan. They urged the public to rely on official sources and avoid being swayed by misleading information. The fasting month for Muslims in Malaysia is anticipated to begin on March 2, with Hari Raya expected on March 31.
