Participants at Hong Kong Christian Service’s"Failure Guide" project. -based Christian charity has revealed that nearly half of youths consider themselves as failures, prompting it to call for increased collaboration among families, schools, and social service agencies to help them.
According to HKCS, the higher scores in the index indicated greater feelings of failure. The average score was 5.6. HKCS deputy director for Youth and Social Rehabilitation Apple Tse and Legislative Council member Chi-yuen Tik, among others, attended the inaugural event.Ten Outstanding Young Persons of 2024, and singer Jace Chan also attended the event.Around 82.1 percent of respondents formed the majority group which stated that “not achieving personal goals,” was a failure.
A major share of secondary trauma came in the form of “blame,” from family members that far exceeded similar situations from teachers and peers . The HKCS survey also indicated that 66 percent of youths surveyed reported fearing failure, primarily due to others’ expectations such as “fearing disappointing others” and “fearing letting others down.”
