The baseball hotbed of San Diego will be well represented this weekend when the NCAA Regionals begin.

Including the University of San Diego, which has 10 locals on the roster, there are 37 players on Division I regional rosters.Arizona and Ole Miss are in the Coral Gables Regional.

The Wildcats and Rebels play in the first round with center fielder Mac Bingham hitting ninth in the Arizona lineup. Bingham, a sophomore, is hitting .279 with five homers, 11 doubles, seven triples and 46 RBIs.On the other side, right-hander Derek Diamond is a starter for Ole Miss. Diamond has made 15 appearances for Ole Miss, 13 starts. He’s 4-4 with a 6.57 ERA, working 612/3 innings.

The Rebels have yet to name their starting pitcher for the game with Arizona, which also has freshman outfielder Kyle Casper on its roster .Infielder Zach Sehgal , a graduate transfer from Stanford, has played in 19 games for Wake Forest and is hitting .217. Junior center fielder T.C. Simmons has started 57 games for UConn. Hitting seventh in the lineup, he’s batting .266 with five homers, 16 doubles and 37 RBIs. He has walked 39 times and been hit by a pitch 16 times.Also Friday, USD meets Vanderbilt in the Corvallis Regional. Right fielder Spencer Jones is Vanderbilt’s leading hitter, batting .367 with nine homers and 49 RBIs. He leads the Commodores with 19 doubles and has been successful on 12 of 13 steal attempts. He hits third in the lineup.
