Nooryana Najwa Najib, daughter of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak , criticized the government for obstructing participants of a solidarity rally . She questioned the action of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in setting up roadblocks in Putrajaya , preventing supporters of Najib from gathering at the Palace of Justice. “During the era of ‘reformasi’? If wearing the Bersih (Clean and Fair Election Coalition) shirt, would they be allowed?”, she asked on Instagram Story.
Today, Najib’s appeal against the High Court’s decision rejecting the leave for judicial review and notice of motion to submit additional evidence related to the Titah Adendum was heard by the Court of Appeal. Media previously reported that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) would implement roadblocks at several entrances to Putrajaya to ensure that the public did not attend Najib’s solidarity rally. Putrajaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Aidi Sham Mohamed, was reported to have said that they would conduct strict checks on all individuals entering the Putrajaya area today. “This is to ensure that no weapons, banners, and placards containing words or provocative elements of incitement are brought. The public is prohibited from attending the peaceful assembly tomorrow because it did not obtain permission from the land owner and did not comply with the requirements as stipulated in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012,” he said in a statement. – UTUSA
