A mystery man threw stacks of cash from a balcony at this N.J. mall to celebrate Mother’s Day! 💵 Thanks, whoever you are!
Shoppers at the Freehold Raceway Mall were surprised by a mystery benefactor throwing fistfuls of cash over a walkway railing near the food court on Sunday afternoon while yelling “Happy Mother’s Day.”
Sarah Mostafa caught the excitement around 1:20 p.m. while visiting the Monmouth County mall with her sisters, she told NJ Advance Media on Monday. Mostafa was waiting in line at a Starbucks on the mall’s first floor when she heard a commotion from above and saw a man tossing fistfuls of cash to shoppers below.“Some people thought it was confetti, and then they took a closer look, like, ‘Wait, that’s actually money,’” Mostafa said.
As the man tossed bills, he shouted “Happy Mother’s Day,” at onlookers. Once he’d given away all the cash in his bag, the man gave a wave and went on his way.Mostafa remained in line at Starbucks, opting not to chase the bills raining down from the second level balcony.Mostafa said a woman standing next to her in the Starbucks line remarked the man, “does this a few times a year on holidays.”Our journalism needs your support.
