KOTA KINABALU: Two Malaysian climbers - one suffering from hypothermia and one from a sprained wrist - were assisted down Mount Kinabalu by the Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) team and other rescuers in two separate incidents on Wednesday (Feb 22).
In the first incident, Mosar - a unit under the Fire and Rescue Department- received an emergency call at 11.30am informing about a 35-year-old man experiencing hypothermia at Laban Rata, which is the rest house lodging for climbers before the ascend to the mountain peak.
"The Mosar team along with Sabah Parks personnel and a few mountain guides checked on the victim before taking him down Mount Kinabalu using a stretcher. "The victim was later sent to the hospital using the Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle for further treatment.In the second incident, the authorities were alerted at 12.57pm about an injured 46-year-old woman at KM4.5.
The Mosar team was assisted by Sabah Parks personnel and mountain guides to treat the victim and brought her down using a stretcher. “After coming down Mount Kinabalu, she was then taken to hospital using a Sabah Parks vehicle for further treatment.
