KOTA KINABALU: The search has intensified for an elderly woman at the forested area where she has been missing for more than 24 hours in Tuaran.

In the second day of the search and rescue operation on Monday , tracker dogs have been brought in but the 76-year-old Jinteh Sudin has yet to be found, said the Fire and Rescue Department.

The elderly woman was earlier reported to have gone missing on Sunday evening when she went foraging for cockles with her family but ended up straying away from the group at the mangrove area in Kampung Betutai. “The second-day SAR commenced at 9am around 300m radius from when the victim was last seen at the mangrove area, assisted by the K9 tracker unit.

“The operation was suspended at 5pm and will be continued tomorrow morning,” said a Fire and Rescue spokesman, adding that the phone lines have bad connection in that area.
