Jordan Warriors head coach Mike Rabe prior to a District 19-6A high school football game between the Morton Ranch Mavericks and the Jordan Warriors at Rhodes Stadium in Katy, TX on Thursday, November 3, 2022.The Morton Ranch and Jordan football teams met for the first time Thursday at Rhodes Stadium, both with playoff hopes on the line.

"It was more of a group thing," Morton Ranch senior Santana Scott said."A lot of us are seniors so we were mature about the situation. We were able to keep our cool and just play through level-headed, through the highs and lows, maintain in the middle and just persevere until the clock hit zero." Scott had 100 yards before halftime, including a 1-yard touchdown run with 8:54 left in the second quarter. Angel Roberto Rincon added a 29-yard field goal for a 17-0 halftime lead.

The Warriors used first-down catches by Deacon Stanfield, Sample and Marsh to get as far as the Morton Ranch 11, but a tackle for loss by Carsen Luna helped set up a field-goal attempt that never got off the ground. Jordan used two touchdowns in 17 seconds of game time to surge back into the game. Chad Gasper scored from 32 yards out with eight seconds left in the third quarter, followed by an onside recovery by Sample.
