Hannah Yeoh , the Youth and Sports Minister, recently reminded Mont Kiara visitors to park responsibly and make use of available parking facilities. In a Facebook post on February 4th, Yeoh shared photos of a Police Traffic Enforcement officer issuing summonses to illegally parked cars along Jalan Kiara 5, near Verve Suites. The cars were parked on the roadside, causing congestion on the narrow stretch of road. The fines were issued to alleviate the traffic obstruction.
Unfortunately, Jalan Kiara 5 is not the only area in Mont Kiara plagued by illegally parked vehicles. Late last year, an expatriate highlighted a recurring issue of cars being parked illegally near 1 Mont Kiara Mall and 163 Retail Park, now known as Sunway 163 Mall. The expat reported that some drivers frequently left their vehicles parked at the bus stop, inconveniencing bus drivers and passengers, as well as other road users caught in the resulting traffic congestion.Yeoh commended the police officer for their swift action against the illegally parked cars on Jalan Kiara 5 and urged others to avoid parking on the roadside to ensure smoother traffic flow. She also reminded the public that the Verve Suites parking facility offers affordable parking rates, charging only RM1.20 for the first hour. Social media users thanked Yeoh and the police officers for their efforts but also requested Yeoh's attention to other problem areas in Mont Kiara where drivers disregard parking regulations. These areas mentioned include Plaza Hartamas, Jalan Kiara near Sunway 163 Mall, Jalan Desa Kiara, Publika, and several others.
