KOTA TINGGI: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has detained a Russian-registered tanker for illegally anchoring in waters off Johor.
Johor MMEA Tanjung Sedili acting director Maritime Commander Mohd Najib Sam said the tanker was detained on Sunday at 3pm, about 23.6 nautical miles east of Tanjung Siang here.
"There were 19 men and two women on board, all Russians aged between 32 and 62. All had valid documents," he said in a statement. Mohd Najib said the captain of the tanker failed to produce documents from the MMEA for permission to anchor in Johor waters.Article type: free
