One day after a feud between Metro and its regulator spilled into public view, the transit agency submitted a revised request Thursday for more rail cars to relieve overcrowding and open the newly finished Silver Line extension.

Metro’s safety regulator was reviewing the transit agency’s latest request Friday to add more rail cars to the system, two days after a feud between the agencies spilled into public view amid threats that the Silver Line extension’s opening could be delayed.The amended request came after the flare-up between Metro and the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission prompted a meeting with Virginia’s senators over how the transit agency could end a year-long train shortage.
