Sydneysiders are expected to flock the city on Tuesday as preparations for Anzac Day get underway.
New South Wales Police are urging members of the community to"plan ahead and commemorate the spirit" of Anzac Day next week"safely and respectfully."
“Anzac Day is about honouring and remembering all those who fought, endured, suffered and died to defend our rights and maintain our freedom,” he wrote in a statement on Saturday. Despite Anzac Day falling mid-week, the city is expected to be busy with large crowds to attend dawn services across the state.
“It will be a busy weekend on the state’s roads, as Anzac Day falls straight after the Easter break and within the school holidays, so please take it easy as you travel to and from commemorations," Commissioner Whyte added. Speaking to Sky News Australia on Saturday, former soldier Brodie Bush who joined the army when he was 17-years-old, confirmed preparations for Anzac Day were well underway.
