The woman struck by a roller coaster at the Melbourne Royal Show last year is defying the odds and beginning to walk and talk again. Shylah Roden suffered critical head and body injuries when she was struck by the coaster which was travelling more than 70 km/hr. It’s understood the 26-year-old was trying to retrieve her phone when the incident occurred. Ms Roden’s family has released a statement to the Herald Sun, saying “over the past year, our focus has been supporting Shylah with her recovery and assisting her to move on with her life”. “We are so grateful to see her progress from the horrific injuries she suffered.”
