The Speaker of the Melaka State Assembly, Datuk Ibrahim Durum, has reassigned Rembia assemblyman, Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis, to the opposition bloc following his announcement of joining PAS on June 10, 2023. The Speaker made the interim decision based on Regulations 9(1), 36, and 37 of the Dewan Regulations, stating that Muhammad Jailani's affiliation with PAS was ambiguous and lacked formal confirmation from the party. This decision resulted in the opposition bloc increasing to three assemblymen and the government bloc decreasing to 25.

“Bagaimanapun, sehingga hari ini saya tidak mendapat sebarang surat jawapan balas rasmi daripada Pas berhubung kedudukan Rembia. Pengakuan ADUN Rembia juga sangat samar yang mengatakan telah menyertai Pas sejak 10 Jun 2023. Sebelum ini, Utusan Malaysia melaporkan Setiausaha Agung Pas, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan mengumumkan Muhammad Jailani telah menyertai parti itu secara rasmi pada 10 Jun 2023.
