Sky News has revealed NSW Treasurer Matt Kean is facing a 16 per cent swing against him in his own seat of Hornsby at this weekend’s election, with most of the vote going to right-wing parties One Nation and the Liberal Democrats.
Mr Kean – who has become a polarising figure with the Liberal base over his pro-climate policies – will have to rely on One Nation preferences to win the seat, with his primary vote having slumped from 53 per cent to 37 per cent according to the poll that was conducted by an industry group.
On the issue of Mr Kean’s performance as an energy minister, the poll found 17 per cent believe he’d performed well, 27 per cent said average, and 54 per cent thought he’d performed poorly. The leaking of the poll to Sky News comes after Sky reported in recent weeks that polling shows Mark Latham’s One Nation is set to receive primary votes of more than 10 per cent.
