A Malaysian businessman was arrested for allegedly cohabiting with a Thai masseuse in a Melaka hotel on New Year's Eve. He claimed fatigue from fireworks kept him from returning home.
A 60-year-old married Muslim businessman in Melaka was detained by Islamic religious enforcers during a late-night anti-vice operation on New Year's Eve . The man claimed he was too tired from watching fireworks to go home and ended up spending the night in a hotel room with a 42-year-old Thai masseuse he met at a local massage centre. The man was reportedly caught with the woman in a hotel in Bandar Hilir between 12.30am and 4.30am.
All those arrested are under investigation for cohabitation under Section 53 of the Syariah Offences Enactment (Melaka State) 1992, a charge that could lead to a fine of up to RM3,000, a two-year jail sentence, or both
