We just never knew the “green” they were singing about was the dollars they could gouge from Roughriders fans by taxing their tickets.To be fair, there’s always some post-budget grumbling and it often fades away in the following days to weeks.

It does sound like a good redemption story that might have the makings of one of those Hallmark movies: A small town Humboldt girl kicks her smoking habit because she can’t afford the extraBut as for the plot line ofWhat would normally be seen as minor sin tax increases and refinements of the provincial sales tax seemed to fit Harpauer’s theme of getting the province’s finances “Back on Track.
But there are sometimes things in budgets that inadvertently wind up defining not only the annual financial plan but what it is people don’t much like about a government. That was the case with the NDP’s 1993 budget that closed 52 rural hospitals. And to a lesser extent, it was the case in the Sask. Party’s 2017 budget that shuttered STC.
