A Florida man developed yellow nodules oozing cholesterol after adhering to a strict 'carnivore diet' for eight months.

A startling medical case involving a man from Florida recently captivated online audiences. He presented himself at a Tampa hospital seeking medical attention after noticing a discharge emanating from noticeably yellow nodules that had developed on his palms, soles, and elbows. Cardiologists subsequently diagnosed the man with xanthelasma, a distinct yellowish deposit of cholesterol beneath the skin triggered by elevated cholesterol or other fats in the bloodstream.

According to the New York Post, which cited a case published in JAMA Cardiology on January 22nd, the patient, in his 40s, developed this condition after adhering to a strict 'carnivore diet' for eight months. During this period, his diet consisted solely of whole sticks of butter, up to 4 kilograms of cheese, and hamburger patties daily. The carnivore diet, while embraced by some fitness enthusiasts who believe its pure protein, vegetable-free approach can aid in weight loss and overall health improvement, involves the consumption of only animal products such as meat, eggs, and dairy. However, the patient's adherence to the diet reached extreme levels. Despite the oozing yellow nodules appearing on his palms, soles, and elbows, he asserted that his overall health had markedly improved. He further claimed to have experienced weight loss, along with enhanced energy levels and cognitive function. It was only after nearly a month of enduring the condition that the man finally sought medical intervention. The oozing yellow nodules were painless, and he only consulted a doctor after enduring the symptoms for almost a month. During the diagnosis, medical professionals discovered that the patient's cholesterol level exceeded 1,000mg/dL. For comparison, a healthy cholesterol level remains below 200mg/dL, and a cholesterol level of 240mg/dL is already considered 'high' by health experts. This medical case serves as a stark reminder of the potential health risks associated with extreme dietary choices. It highlights the importance of maintaining a balanced and varied diet, and consulting with healthcare professionals before making drastic changes to one's eating habits. The man's experience underscores the dangers of self-medicating and the need to seek timely medical attention when experiencing unusual or concerning symptoms
