A 53-year-old man has been remanded for a week to assist in the investigation of the murder of a female food trader in Kuantan. The victim's body was discovered near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge on February 13, and police have arrested a suspect in Kuala Terengganu. The post-mortem results indicate the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.
KUANTAN : A 53-year-old man has been remanded for a week starting today to assist in the investigation of the murder of a female trader. The victim's body was discovered by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge last Thursday (February 13). The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nor Izzati Zakaria to allow further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, police arrested the suspect at a residential area in Wakaf Tembesu Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu at 5:30 am on Saturday (February 15). Meanwhile, Kuantan District Police Chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu stated that the post-mortem results revealed the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head. 'The public is urged not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the victim's death,' he told Bernama. Previously, the body of a local female food trader, Norshamira Zainal, 37, was found by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge on February 13.
