KUALA LUMPUR: A man was killed and four others sustained minor injuries after trespassing onto the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad ( KTMB ) railway tracks between Teluk Pulai and Klang on Tuesday (Jan 28). The incident, which occurred at 6.39 am, involved a KTM Komuter train traveling from Jalan Kastam station with 200 passengers onboard. KTMB confirmed that the train sustained damage as a result of the collision, leading to a delay of over 60 minutes.
A backup locomotive was dispatched to tow the commuter train to facilitate the removal of the body and enable the resumption of normal train operations. Passengers were transported to Klang station, with assistance from auxiliary police and KTMB staff, where they boarded shuttle buses to Subang Jaya station to continue their journeys. In a statement, KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha emphasized that railway tracks are restricted areas and trespassers could face a fine of up to RM500 under Section 126 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. – Bernam
