A 23-year-old man in Johor Bahru pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy at a care center. The court set sentencing for March 7th.
A 23-year-old man, Abdul Wafi Abdullah, pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court in Johor Bahru today to a charge of sexual assault against a 17-year-old boy earlier this month. The accused, Abdul Wafi Abdullah, 23, admitted the charge after it was read out to him before Judge Hazeelia Muhammad, who then set March 7 as the date for sentencing.
According to the charge sheet, Abdul Wafi was charged with committing sexual assault by causing his penis to touch the teenager's behind a classroom at a care center in Kempas, here at 9 am on January 3. He was charged under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a sentence of imprisonment of not more than 20 years and caning, if found guilty. The court did not allow the accused to be released on bail as both reside at the same care center. The prosecution of the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nor Fadilah Johanuddin, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.-UTUSA
