Inspector Mohd. Tarmizi Said and Corporal Christopher Lawai Johnny were among 200 police officers recognized for their exemplary conduct and courage. Tarmizi refused a bribe offered by a smuggling syndicate, while Christopher was injured while on duty during a by-election.

In a display of unwavering integrity, Inspector Mohd. Tarmizi Said, a 40-year-old police officer from the Selangor Department of Internal Security and Public Order (JKDNKA), resisted a bribe of approximately RM50,000 offered by a smuggling syndicate in 2023. Tarmizi recounted the incident during an anti-smuggling operation when he was approached by an individual who offered him the substantial sum.

Despite issuing a stern warning against the unethical proposal, the individual persisted, ultimately leading to Tarmizi's apprehension of the bribe-giver. He emphasized that his actions were merely fulfilling his duty as a police officer. Confronting attempts at bribery, Tarmizi stated, was a responsibility he took seriously, contributing to the preservation of the Royal Malaysia Police's (PDRM) reputation. Tarmizi was among 200 police officers and personnel who received commendations and awards for their courageous actions and exemplary character from Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol) today. Another recipient, Corporal Christopher Lawai Johnny, 30, received an award for his bravery during the Kluang by-election last year. While on patrol duty with the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB), Christopher was involved in a collision with a vehicle, sustaining a broken right hand and nerve damage. Despite the injuries, Christopher expressed gratitude for being recognized and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the force to the best of his abilities upon full recovery. In his address, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain commended the extraordinary dedication and selflessness displayed by certain members of the PDRM. He highlighted individuals who went above and beyond the call of duty, risking their safety for the benefit of the community. He emphasized that this spirit of service has been deeply ingrained within the ranks of the Royal Malaysia Police for years, serving as an inspiration for future generations
