The Malaysian Media Council Bill (RUU Majlis Media Malaysia) has been approved by the Cabinet and is set to be introduced in Parliament next week. The bill aims to establish an independent self-regulatory body to protect media interests and practitioners.

“RUU Majlis Media Malaysia telah diluluskan Jemaah Menteri untuk dibawa ke Parlimen. Jadi kita akan bentangkan dalam Dewan Rakyat minggu hadapan. Sekiranya ada masa akan dibahas dan dibuat bacaan kedua dalam mesyuarat kali ini. Pada 27 Mei, Fahmi berkata Kementerian Komunikasi di peringkat akhir merealisasikan penubuhan Majlis Media Malaysia yang berperanan sebagai badan kawal selia kendiri bagi menjaga kepentingan media dan pengamalnya.
Ditanya sama ada laporan Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja mengenai kes Batu Puteh, Batuan Tengah dan Tubir Selatan dibincangkan dalam mesyuarat, Fahmi berkata tidak dibincangkan secara khusus.
