Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urges the temporary ban on the use of veto power in the UN Security Council to address issues of violence and lack of inclusivity, citing the council's inability to fulfill its mandate.
KUALA LUMPUR: Penggunaan kuasa veto dalam Majlis Keselamatan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu membabitkan isu keganasan perlu diharamkan sementara menunggu ia masih tidak dihapuskan.
“UNSC sepatutnya menjadi badan bertindak namun sebaliknya ia sering buntu. Kesannya, kita melihat apa berlaku terhadap Gaza, penganiayaan Rohingya dan perang di Ukraine. Sebagai rekod, kuasa veto diberikan kepada lima anggota tetap Majlis Keselamatan PBB dikenali sebagai ‘P5’. Seperti yang Malaysia kemukakan di PBB, Anwar berkata, dunia mesti mengambil langkah berani dan segera, bermula dengan embargo senjata terhadap Israel.
