The King also stressed the need for Malaysia to remain steadfast in supporting peace principles and opposing all forms of violence, particularly in light of the ongoing international conflict in Gaza. He urged the immediate cessation of hostilities and the swift implementation of international law-based justice. Furthermore, Sultan Ibrahim highlighted Malaysia's role as the ASEAN chair this year and emphasized the need for strong leadership to determine the direction of ASEAN, ensuring Malaysia continues to set an example for peace and stability in the region.
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim bertitah tidak kira betapa kecilnya sesebuah kawasan itu sama ada sekadar batu karang di tengah lautan, hak dan kedaulatan negara mesti dipertahankan.
“Kerajaan perlu bijak dalam menguruskan hubungan diplomatik dengan semua pihak, termasuk negara jiran. Dalam pada itu, Sultan Ibrahim bertitah, Malaysia perlu kekal tegas dalam mendukung prinsip keamanan serta menentang segala bentuk keganasan khususnya dalam menghadapi konflik antarabangsa yang sedang berlaku.
Sultan Ibrahim mengingatkan kerajaan untuk menunjukkan keupayaan dalam memimpin serta menentukan hala tuju ASEAN sebagai pengerusi pada tahun ini.
