The Malaysian High Commission in Singapore will organize various people-to-people engagement initiatives to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Malaysia-Singapore bilateral relations and Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023.
The Malaysia n High Commission in Singapore is gearing up to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Malaysia - Singapore bilateral relations and Malaysia 's ASEAN Chairmanship this year with a series of people-to-people engagement initiatives. Datuk Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, the Malaysia n High Commissioner to Singapore , emphasized that focusing on these connections aligns with their mission as the 'backbone' of relations between Malaysia and Singapore , as well as among nations in the region.
\Azfar explained their plans to host seminars or roundtable discussions centered on strengthening people-to-people ties, ultimately fostering a spirit of unity between the citizens of both countries. Discussions will also cover topics aligned with the theme of 'Inclusivity and Sustainability' and issues affecting ASEAN citizens collectively, such as ageing populations. \In addition to these initiatives, the High Commission aims to organize a business forum in April to promote business and investment opportunities in Malaysia. They also plan to host ASEAN Day celebrations in August, though discussions regarding these celebrations are still ongoing with representatives from other ASEAN countries in Singapore. The Chinese New Year celebration held at Rumah Malaysia, attended by over 150 guests including foreign dignitaries, members of the business community, and the Malaysian diaspora, showcased traditional Malaysian delicacies and pastries and featured a lion dance performance by Yi Quan Athletic Association, Singapore, in collaboration with the Malaysian Association in Singapore (MASIS)
