Malaysia has received two Malaysian citizens who were released by the United States government after being held at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba since 2006. The Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the reception was based on the principles of human rights and global justice, which form the basis of the unity government. The government has also outlined a comprehensive reintegration program for the two individuals, encompassing support services, welfare, and health screenings.

“Kerajaan telah merangka suatu program reintegrasi yang komprehensif untuk kedua-dua individu berkenaan, merangkumi bantuan perkhidmatan sokongan, kebajikan, dan saringan kesihatan,” katanya dalam kenyataan media.
