Malaysia Takes Action Against Spread of False News Regarding Conference of Rulers

The Malaysian government is cracking down on the spread of misinformation related to the recent 268th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that individuals responsible for disseminating false information about the meeting have been identified and legal action will be taken.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission ( MCMC ) and the Royal Malaysia Police have identified individuals responsible for spreading false information concerning the recent 268th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that legal action will be taken against those responsible for disseminating or sharing fabricated news regarding the Conference of Rulers.

'In this instance, it is a fabrication as there was no voting conducted during the recent Conference of Rulers meeting,' he stated at today's weekly Communication Minister's press conference. Fahmi, the spokesperson for the MADANI Government, emphasized that any voting during Conference of Rulers meetings necessitates the presence of all reigning monarchs.However, he explained that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim was absent from the 268th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers as the King was abroad receiving medical treatment. 'From the photographs uploaded on Sultan Ibrahim's official Facebook regarding the recent Conference of Rulers, we can observe that His Majesty was absent, implying there were no nine votes. His Majesty was unwell and did not attend, and last Friday, His Majesty departed for medical treatment abroad,' Fahmi added
