Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Edwin Tong, said it is meaningful that the joint nomination be made as part of the celebrations marking the anniversary of bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries. The first modern Chingay Parade in Singapore was held on 4 February 1973, with the participation of around 2,000 performers. Since then, it has evolved into a multicultural event that includes participants from across Singapore, the region, and the world.
