The Malaysian government is dedicated to improving its ranking on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and aims to be among the top 25 countries by 2033.

The Malaysian government has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing global perceptions of the country's governance effectiveness and transparency, as stated by the Chief Secretary to the Government's (KSN) office. In a statement issued today, the office emphasized that the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index ( CPI ) will serve as a yardstick for Malaysia's aspiration to be among the world's top 25 nations by 2033.

Previously, Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) revealed that Malaysia maintained its position at 57th in the CPI for the second consecutive year. The office underscored the government's sustained endeavors to bolster integrity, transparency, and sound governance. Since October 2024, a Special Task Force on CPI, led by KSN Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, has been actively operational, spearheading strategic reforms aimed at elevating the country's ranking, it noted. This task force comprises senior officials from various ministries, experts, and TI-M representatives, with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) serving as its secretariat, it added. Furthermore, six CPI Focus Groups have been established to delve deeper into the data gleaned from CPI surveys. The insights derived from these analyses will play a pivotal role in shaping future strategies and actions to raise Malaysia's international standing
