Malaysia's Steel Prices Decline in December 2024

Malaysia saw a decrease in steel prices in December 2024, with the index recording a decline of between -0.1% and -4.6% across most regions in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. The largest drop was observed in Perak (-4.6%), followed by Tawau (-2.3%) and Sandakan (-2.0%). The index for steel and metal cuttings also witnessed a decrease of between -0.3% and -0.8% across areas. However, the index for cement remained stable.

PETALING JAYA: Indeks harga seunit besi merekodkan penurunan antara negatif 0.1 peratus hingga negatif 4.6 peratus bagi kebanyakan kawasan di Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah dan Sarawak pada Disember 2024 berbanding bulan lepas, menurut Jabatan Perangkaan.

“Selain daripada itu, indeks harga seunit simen pula kekal tidak berubah bagi hampir semua kawasan di Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah dan Sarawak pada Disember 2024. Namun, beliau berkata, perbandingan tahunan indeks harga seunit besi pula mencatatkan penurunan antara negatif 1.7 peratus hingga negatif 9.7 peratus pada Disember 2024 berbanding bulan yang sama tahun lalu bagi kebanyakan kawasan di Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah dan Sarawak.“Selain itu, purata harga seunit besi yang terdiri daripada bar bulat keluli lembut dan Mycon 60 high tensile deformed bars pula telah mencatatkan penurunan dengan purata harga RM3,588.

“Penurunan IKB termasuk bar keluli telah dicatatkan bagi hampir semua kategori bangunan kecuali Cerucuk Kayu di kawasan Pulau Pinang, Kedah dan Perlis, Perak, Johor dan Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Melaka dan Negeri Sembilan.
