The Malaysian Cabinet has rejected a proposal to appoint a minister for non-Islamic religious affairs at the federal level. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the country already has a Minister of Religious Affairs and a Minister of Unity, representing all races and ethnicities, which is considered sufficient to ensure the well-being and harmony of the people. He added that the statement by Raub MP Chow Yu Hui was a personal opinion and not endorsed by anyone in the government or the Cabinet.
