The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will deploy 2,752 personnel to manage traffic congestion during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will implement traffic dispersal measures on major routes from December 23 to January 2 to alleviate traffic congestion during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Bukit Aman JSPT director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri stated in a statement that the department is aware of the anticipated increase in traffic volume and congestion on highways such as the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the East Coast Expressway (LPT), as well as federal and state roads. A total of 2,752 personnel will be deployed for the operation. PLUS Malaysia estimates that 2.12 million vehicles will utilize major expressways daily during the holiday period. To mitigate the increased traffic load, Mohd Yusri urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, including observing speed limits, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and obeying traffic signals. He also advised the public to plan their journeys carefully, stay informed about weather conditions and traffic flow, and ensure their vehicles are in safe and good condition. Employers and commercial vehicle drivers are encouraged to plan their routes, prioritizing federal and state roads to reduce congestion on major highways nationwide
