Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow emphasized the importance of peaceful resolutions to international issues, particularly the Palestinian conflict, during a joint statement.
Malaysia and Turkmenistan reaffirmed their commitment to addressing international challenges peacefully, including the Palestinian issue. In a joint statement, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and President Serdar Berdimuhamedow emphasized that peaceful initiatives should align with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. They also called for unimpeded humanitarian access to Palestinian territories.
The leaders stressed the importance of a just and lasting solution for peace and stability in the region. Earlier, Berdimuhamedow received an official welcome at the Perdana Putra Building in Kuala Lumpur during his two-day official visit. Both leaders also highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to build trust and understanding, and strengthen regional and international stability. This principle aligns with both the ASEAN Zone of Peace, Freedom and Neutrality (ZOPFAN) and Turkmenistan's initiative for a Zone of Peace, Confidence and Cooperation in Central Asia. As Malaysia prepares to assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, Turkmenistan's support will further strengthen this shared vision, promoting mutual understanding, regional independence, and collective security efforts. Malaysia encourages Turkmenistan to consider participation in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the statement added. Meanwhile, Anwar accepted Berdimuhamedow's invitation for a reciprocal visit to Turkmenistan, with the date to be determined through diplomatic channels
