The collaboration aims to strengthen support for ATM veterans, particularly in ensuring their well-being and opening up opportunities for their lives after service. MAIPs plans to offer programs and training through its ATAM, including TVET and entrepreneurship programs.
The Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council of Perlis (MAIPs) and the Veterans' Affairs Department ( JHEV ) are set to forge a strategic partnership to strengthen assistance provided to Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans in the state. The discussion on the collaboration was led by the Crown Prince of Perlis , Brigadier General Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who also serves as Commander of the 504 Askar Wataniah Regiment, at the Arau Royal Gallery yesterday.
His arrival was greeted by the Director-General of JHEV ATM, Major General Datuk Semaon Marjuki, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MAIPs, Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor. Also present at the discussion were the Deputy Director-General of JHEV ATM, Sophian Iswandy Ismail, the Chief Executive Officer of the ATM Veterans Foundation, Lt Col (B) Azwadi Jamian, and the Director of JHEV ATM Branch Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, Major Mohd Izmer Ghazali. During the discussion, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin expressed his hope that the collaboration would strengthen support for ATM veterans, particularly in ensuring the continued well-being of those involved. His Royal Highness added that this step would also open up more opportunities for the lives of these individuals after they complete their service. Through this initiative, MAIPs, through the MAIPs Asnaf Transformation Academy (ATAM), has identified several programs and training specifically designed to assist ATM veterans during the transition phase after retirement. Among the key efforts to be undertaken include the participation of those involved in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, as well as entrepreneurship programs involving the spouses of ATM officers and members. In a related development, MAIPs will also hold discussions with the Armed Forces Veterans Organization (PERHEBAT) and the Social Employment Division (BKS) to improve the modules or pre-retirement preparation courses for those involved. For record, the number of ATM veterans in Perlis currently stands at 3,223, comprising 1,367 retired veterans, 1,481 non-retired veterans, and 385 pension recipients. - UTUSA
