The Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC ) is currently examining documents pertaining to alleged misconduct by a Kuala Lumpur City Hall ( DBKL ) advisory board member concerning a RM4 million project. The investigation aims to determine if any criminal or governance irregularities occurred. MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki stated that the MACC recently gained access to documents obtained from DBKL ’s internal investigations.

These documents, according to Azam, are directly related to meetings and other relevant proceedings. He assured the public that the investigation will proceed based on the information gathered and that an update will be provided by Monday if any criminal or misconduct issues are uncovered. Azam further stated that he has directed the Governance Investigation Division to commence the probe and pledged that if both criminal and governance elements are found, an immediate investigation will be launched.Interestingly, Azam clarified that the MACC has not yet initiated a formal investigation paper or summoned any individuals for statements. He explained that his team has granted DBKL ample time to conduct an internal investigation and has stationed MACC officers at DBKL since last year. Earlier reports from the media indicated that DBKL had launched an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct by an advisory board member, who is also a renowned film producer and director, concerning the awarding of the RM4 million project. The misconduct allegations, which gained widespread attention on social media, revolve around an alleged breach of governance procedures in the procurement process for a RM4 million creative content production project for DBKL. It is alleged that the project was not awarded through an open tender process, raising concerns about transparency and fairness
